Helping Others, Opportunities and Knowledge for All
HOOK for Families is our nonprofit initiative dedicated to connecting individuals and families with the support, resources and opportunities they need to grow, learn and thrive.
Our mission is to remove barriers by providing access to educational programs, family support, vocational opportunities, life-skills training, and meaningful community experiences. We are giving people of all ages the opportunity to socialize in an all-inclusive environment (Hang Out for Older Kids).
We serve children, adolescents, adults, individuals with disabilities, caregivers, and families who may benefit from additional guidance, advocacy, or financial assistance.
Programs may include parent education, social-emotional support, daily living skills, vocational preparation, community-based activities, wellness programs, workshops, and access to professional services. Through partnerships with schools, community organizations, local businesses and service providers, we help families connect with the resources best suited to their needs.
Funding donations, sponsorships, grants and community fundraising helps make programs and services more accessible to families who might otherwise be unable to participate.
At HOOK for Families, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to feel supported, gain knowledge, and build a stronger future.
Our Vocational Training services help individuals build the skills, confidence and experience needed to prepare for employment and greater independence. Programs are designed around each person’s strengths, interests, abilities and long-term goals.
Training may include job readiness, workplace communication, time management, following directions, completing tasks, problem-solving, interviewing, résumé development, professional behavior and appropriate social skills in the workplace. Individuals may also receive hands-on coaching and support while exploring different career paths.
Through collaboration with ACCES-VR and partnerships with local businesses, we help connect participants with vocational assessments, job exploration, community-based training, internships and potential employment opportunities.
These partnerships allow individuals to practice real-world skills in supportive work environments.
We work closely with families, schools, service providers, and employers to create individualized vocational plans and ensure consistent support. Our goal is to help each participant discover meaningful opportunities, develop workplace independence, and take confident steps toward future employment.
